Another inspiring work visit — this time to Texel.
What stood out was the power of collaboration. Gemeente Texel, Woontij, and their building partners Ooms and Barli are demonstrating how different forms of prefabricated and modular construction can help deliver quality housing efficiently and at pace.
We visited several projects and saw how different housing types and construction methods have been adapted to the needs and character of individual communities.
For Statia Housing Foundation, Texel's experience is particularly relevant to Statia because the four-village program combines social rental and affordable owner-occupied housing, while the separate Texelwende development demonstrated how 120 modular homes could be produced and placed at considerable speed.
A valuable reminder that when government, housing organisations, and the private sector work together around a shared objective, much can be achieved.
